United Kingdom
Once a global superpower, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is one of the most politically complex nations in the world. Visiting the United Kingdom could be a strange experience for many Americans. Because of the shared language and heritage between the two countries, I was surprised by how foreign the United Kingdom felt. Regional identity remains strong despite the country’s geographical size. While London and Edinburgh are the perennial favorites for many travelers, secondary cities like Glasgow and Cardiff are often overlooked. Considering the accessibility, the United Kingdom may be the most underrated travel destination.
