Finland

Technically classified as a Nordic nation, Finland has numerous unique characters and histories distinct from its Scandinavian neighbors. Known to be independent and reserved, Finns are often described as the perpetual oddball of Europe. If I were to come up with an adjective to describe Finland, it would probably be “refreshing.” The Finnish love for nature is evident even in big cities like Helsinki and Turku. For design lovers like myself, Finland is one of the great cities in Europe. From the cheerful print of Marimekko to the undulating curves of Alvar Aalto, Finnish design is a refreshing break from the understated classicism typical of Scandinavian design.
