Lithuania

The southern anchor to the “Baltic trio," Lithuania is distinctively different from her northern Baltic cousins in national characters and history. Unlike the historically protestant Latvia and Estonia, Lithuania is a decidedly Catholic nation despite decades of Soviet occupation. Lithuania was also a formidable European power that once ruled much of Belarus and Ukraine. Lithuania was in a political union with Poland for over two centuries, making it one of the most populous European countries. Fast forward to today, Lithuanians are probably most well known for their passion and success in basketball.
